Welcome to Signature 2018, Satin and Steel presented by Classic BMW!
Tonight, I invite you to experience a world of intrigue. Tonight’s James Bond inspired event was coordinated by the staff, board, and wonderful volunteers for Chamberlain Performing Arts. I would like to thank Jena Abernathy, and her Signature 2018 committee, for all the hard work to help make tonight a success.
We are here to celebrate! Since 1984, Chamberlain Performing Arts has proudly brought productions such as The Nutcracker, Dances at a Gathering, and Coppelia to the North Texas Community. Our students perform in large scale professional programs, dance alongside nationally and globally recognized artists, and build the work ethic and dedication required to succeed in both the arts and life. Additionally, we have been able to share their hard work with thousands in our community.
Chamberlain Performing Arts will continue working to enhance quality of life, through arts education, in our North Texas community. Our outreach programs consist of the Relevé After School Dance Program, Shining Stars Dance Program, Spring Community Showcase, and Community Connections Performances. These programs are crucial way to spread the arts to underserved members of our community. Combined with our fervent focus on our own company students’ success and education, this allows us to impact lives across a broad spectrum of the community.
2018 marks 34 years for Chamberlain Performing Arts. I would like to emphasize how truly grateful I am for you to come help celebrate our organization. I founded Chamberlain Performing Arts with the original purpose of giving our students, your children, and all willing and wanting friends in the community the opportunity to be on stage and under the lights. I hope, tonight, I can help provide a bright spot for you as well.
Please enjoy all Signature 2018 has to offer.
Thank you,
(Signed by Artistic Director)

PLANO BASED CHAMBERLAIN PERFORMING ARTS’ FAMILY BALLET SERIES
APRIL 20-22 AT THE CHARLES W. EISEMANN CENTER IN RICHARDSON
(March 9, 2018, Plano) - Chamberlain Performing Arts’ Family Ballet Series production of Peter & the Wolf and Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra returns April 20, 21, and 22 in the Bank of America Theater at the Eisemann Center in Richardson, Texas.
The production, featuring Chamberlain Performing Arts company members, is two ballets. Both are under 30 minutes long, perfect for introducing children to the wonderment of classical story ballet. The audience will also enjoy an open curtain staging, and there will be an opportunity to meet the dancers and get autographs.
Chamberlain Performing Arts’ alumna Katie Martin returns as choreographer for both story ballets.
“Recreating entirely new visions of both Peter & the Wolf and Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra has been a wonderful experience,” said choreographer Katie Martin. “I want our audience to be able to see the music come to life. Matching movement to each intricate sound, visualizing the colorization of instruments through costumes, and attempting to convey the wonderment and fantasy of the narration and story, through the choreography and direction, has been only part of the fun I have had in setting these new works on our fantastic cast. I truly believe these works will delight children both young and young at heart. I am always honored when Kathy Chamberlain asks me to set a piece for the organization. I am so thankful to her for the opportunity and to my friends and family for their support in helping to bring my vision to life.”
“I am always so thrilled to showcase Katie’s ballets to our community. Her talent, energy, and spirit always shows through our company members when they perform her work,” commented Artistic Director Kathy Chamberlain. “I am deeply proud of the caliber of her work, her heart, and that I am able to call her an alumna of Chamberlain Performing Arts.”
The sets, originally designed by Melissa James, are enhanced and even more beautiful than before. Madeline Rose, Joell Santiago, and Shannon Davis are working to bring the characters to new heights through new and enhanced costume and makeup design.
Peter & the Wolf and Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra can be seen in the Bank of America Theater at the Charles W. Eisemann Center in Richardson, Texas. Production dates and times are April 20 at 7:00 pm, April 21 at 2:00 pm, and April 22 at 2:00 pm.
